Instagram and TikTok in Nice: what works
Nice gets two busy seasons, and they want different posts. The first is carnival. The 2026 edition ran from February 11 to March 1 under the theme “Vive la Reine !”, with illuminated parades on Saturdays and Tuesdays, flower battles along the seafront, and more than 420,000 people attending over the period. The 2027 edition, “Vive l’Amour”, is set for February 9 to 28. Costume makers, florists, photographers and cafés along the parade route have their strongest weeks then, and practical posts (seat tips, parade times, where to eat afterward) get saved far more than wide crowd shots.
The second season is summer, and it is built on visitors. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport handled a record 15.2 million passengers in 2025 and describes itself as France’s second-busiest airport after Paris, so in July and August a large share of the people looking at Nice posts are planning a trip or already on one. Beach clubs, boat trips, ice cream and rooftop bars all compete for that attention. The Nice Jazz Fest adds three nights in late July, with headline concerts on Place Masséna and free fringe stages in the old town.
That visitor traffic changes how you write. Short, useful videos with the place named in the caption (“where to eat socca near the market”, “how to reach the port by tram”) work for tourists. Residents want something else: what is new, what is open in the off-season, what the neighborhood is talking about.
Neighborhoods help you aim. The old town and cours Saleya are markets, flowers and tourists. The port is restaurants and boats. Libération has the city’s busiest food market and a residential feel. Cimiez is quiet, green and full of families. Mont Boron gives you the views without the crowds.
For timing, test an early-evening slot in French time against a late-morning post, and repeat the test in summer because visitor habits differ from residents’.
Who orders from Nice
A florist near cours Saleya posts a daily ten-second clip of the carnival flower-battle bouquets being built. She adds Instagram views to the first two, so the series reaches more than her regular customers, and checks which arrangements people ask to order.
A walking-tour guide launches a TikTok account in May, before the summer crowds. He posts short route previews and puts TikTok views on the first three, so he can see which route draws the most questions and plan his July schedule around it.
A jazz trio playing the free fringe stages records a short live set. They order YouTube views on the full recording, so it has enough watch time to show whether people stay for the whole set, and use that to pitch summer bars.
Rules to know before you post ads
Hotels and restaurants in Nice often invite creators. If you accept a free stay or meal in exchange for a post, France’s 2023 influencer law treats it as commercial: label the post “Publicité” or “Collaboration commerciale”, legibly, for its whole duration. Fake social endorsements used to promote a product are also banned across the EU, which rules out presenting bought likes as guests’ approval. Our France page has the official text.
