Why views matter for Irish videos

Long-form video in Ireland tends to be tied to something that happens: a festival, a match, a season. The Cork International Film Festival runs from November 12 to 22, 2026, with its opening gala at MTU Cork School of Music, and Electric Picnic returns to Stradbally in late August 2027. Each produces a flood of filming and a short period when people search for it.

A film-maker with a short in the programme has a clear task: get the trailer or the full film in front of people while the festival is being talked about. The trouble is that a new upload with a handful of views looks like nobody has seen it, and a viewer who finds it through search may click on the video above it instead.

Views solve a narrow part of that problem. They give an upload a first-day number that looks like attention, so a viewer arriving from a link or a search is not the first person to arrive. What they cannot do is create interest. If the first thirty seconds are slow, viewers leave, and retention data will show it.

For Electric Picnic content, the best plan is to film what only attendees see and publish quickly. A well-edited three-minute walk from the campsite to the main stage is more useful than another list of acts. A film-maker should add chapters and a clear title, and write a description that names the place.

To give a channel a base as well, add YouTube subscribers in Ireland. Label any paid brand integration in the video as the Irish influencer rules require.
