# Instagram comments: do they help, and what to buy if you do

Do Instagram comments help a new post? Custom, generated and earned comments compared on control, relevance and moderation risk, with who should skip them.

The short answer

Instagram comments can help a new post feel open for conversation, because commenting is one signal Instagram predicts. Bought comments do not change what real viewers do, though. Custom comments you write fit the post best, generated ones cost less, and both can be removed, so keep the number small.

Key facts

- Instagram says commenting is one of five interactions it predicts most closely for Feed: comment, linger, like, share and tap the poster's profile (Instagram Ranking Explained, checked October 27, 2026).
- Meta's Reels ranking page lists how likely you are to comment on a Reel as a prediction, built from signals such as past comment history (checked October 27, 2026).
- Meta's Spam policy prohibits selling, buying or exchanging engagement; its listed examples are likes, shares, views and follows (checked October 27, 2026).
- Instagram lets you hide individual comments on your own posts, and hidden comments still count toward the total (Instagram Help Center, checked October 27, 2026).
- The FTC's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials covers fake social media indicators, but liability for buyers is limited to indicators they knew or should have known were fake.

Comments are the signal people trust most on a post and the one that is easiest to get wrong. A like is a number. A comment is a sentence with a name beside it, and strangers read it before they decide what to say.

This guide covers what comments do on Instagram, what your three options are (write them yourself, have them generated, or earn them), and who should skip buying altogether. If you already know you want them, you can [buy Instagram comments](https://socipro.com/buy-instagram-comments) on the service page, where the price table is always the current one.

## Should I buy custom, generated or earned comments?

Start with the table. It compares the three routes on the things that decide whether a thread helps you or hurts you.

| | Custom (you write them) | Generated (we write them) | Earned (real viewers) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Control | Full: your exact lines | Low: short positive reactions | None |
| Relevance to the post | High if you write to the post | Generic by design | Highest |
| Moderation risk | Medium, lower with varied lines | Medium to high if overused | None |
| Cost | Higher | Lower | Your time |
| Best for | Launches, product posts, questions you want answered | A few quick reactions under a post | Everything else |
| Choose it when | The wording matters and you can write 10 to 30 distinct lines | You only want the thread to not be empty | You can wait and your audience already comments |

The short version: earned comments are always better when you can get them, custom comments are the right paid choice for most posts, and generated comments are for cases where the wording matters little.

## Do Instagram comments help a post?

They help in two ways, and neither is magic.

First, Instagram treats commenting as its own signal. Its ranking explainer lists the likelihood that you will comment as one of five interactions it predicts most closely for Feed, next to lingering, liking, sharing and tapping the poster’s profile. Meta’s Reels ranking page lists a separate prediction, how likely you are to comment on a Reel, and names signals such as past comment history as inputs.

Read that carefully. The prediction is about each viewer and that viewer’s habits. A comment you buy is not part of any viewer’s history, so it does not teach Instagram who your audience is, and it does not make real people more likely to comment. What Instagram does with real comments is a different matter from what a visitor does with a bought one.

Second, comments show a newcomer what other people think. Someone landing on a new product Reel reads the thread before deciding whether to ask their own question. A thread with three relevant comments gives them permission to be fourth. An empty thread makes people hesitate. That social effect is the real reason to buy a few, and it only works if the comments read like they belong.

## What is the difference between custom and generated comments?

**Custom comments** are your words. You type one comment per line, and the number of lines sets the quantity. That means you can answer the post: ask about sizing, react to a moment in the Reel, mention a detail only someone who watched would notice. It also means the quality is on you. Twenty lines that all say “love this” are not custom in any useful sense.

**Generated comments** are short, positive reactions that we write in bulk. They suit any post, which is also their weakness. They can’t mention what is in your photo or video, and a thread made only of them reads generic to anyone paying attention. They cost less because the writing is reusable.

On the [Instagram comments page](https://socipro.com/buy-instagram-comments), the order box counts your lines as you type and rejects links, @mentions, duplicate lines and terms on our blocked list, so the common mistakes get caught before you pay. Each option goes down its own delivery line, and comments are posted one at a time over a period of time rather than in a block.

## How do I write custom comments that fit the post?

Write them the way a viewer would, not the way a brand would.

- **Respond to something in the post.** “Is the green one still in stock?” works under a product Reel. “Amazing!” works nowhere.
- **Vary the length.** Mix a four-word reaction with a full sentence or a question. Uniform lines look automated.
- **Ask a few questions you want to answer.** Your replies are the part of the thread that sells.
- **Leave out links and @mentions.** The order box rejects them anyway, and they are what filters notice first.
- **Do not claim results or write fake reviews.** A line like “this cleared my skin in a week” is a false testimonial, not engagement.

A good list is shorter than you think. Ten distinct lines will do more than forty near-identical ones, and you can always add a second batch to another post.

## What is the moderation risk of buying comments?

There is a real chance of removal, and you should order with that in mind.

Meta’s Spam policy prohibits attempting to sell, buy or exchange engagement. The examples it lists are likes, shares, views and follows; a comment is engagement too, and it is the most visible kind, because anyone can read it. Repetitive or generic comments are what both people and filters notice first. Neither tier at Socipro includes a refill on comments, because a comment that Instagram removes cannot be told apart from one you deleted or hid yourself.

You also keep control of your own thread. Instagram lets you hide individual comments on your posts and filter words with Hidden Words, and the Help Center notes that hidden comments still count toward the total. If a line lands badly, hide it.

The practical rules that lower the risk are the same for any seller:

| Habit | Why it helps |
| --- | --- |
| Keep the count close to the post’s likes and views | A thread far larger than the rest of the post looks bought |
| Use distinct lines | Duplicates are the easiest thing to flag |
| Order on a post that already has some attention | Comments under a silent post stand out |
| Reply to a few yourself | Real replies turn a list into a conversation |
| Never share your password | A seller needs only a public post link |

## Is there a legal side to buying comments?

There is, and it is mostly about how you use them. In the United States, the FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule covers fake reviews and also fake indicators of social media influence, such as followers or views generated by bots or accounts not tied to a real person. The FTC’s questions-and-answers page says buyers are liable only for indicators they knew or should have known were fake, and that the rule’s focus is people who distribute them to misrepresent their influence. Penalties apply to knowing violations.

What that means in practice is simple. Do not use bought comments as customer reviews, as proof that a product works, or to convince a sponsor or buyer of influence you don’t have. Used as a way to open a thread under your own new post, comments carry the same platform risk as any other engagement order, but they are not a claim about your customers. This is general information, not legal advice.

## Who should buy Instagram comments, and who should not?

**Buy them if:**

- You are launching a product, release or event and the post will get real traffic within hours.
- You can write a short list of distinct, specific lines.
- You will reply to the thread yourself.
- You understand that removals are possible and treat the order as a test.

**Skip them if:**

- Your account has almost no followers or likes. Add a modest [Instagram likes](https://socipro.com/buy-instagram-likes) count first, so the post is not lopsided.
- You plan to use the comments as reviews or testimonials.
- You are on a private account, or you will delete or hide the post halfway through.
- The post is not worth reading. Comments don’t fix a weak post, and a good post with real viewers will draw its own.

If your account is still small, you may get more from earning the first replies than buying them. ## How does a custom comment order work at Socipro?

1. **Pick the post.** Paste the link to a post or Reel on a public account, or choose it from your grid.
2. **Choose who writes the comments.** Custom or generated, then Quality or Premium.
3. **Enter your lines.** For custom orders, one comment per line. The box flags duplicates, links, @mentions and lines over Instagram’s length limit.
4. **Check the preview.** We look the post up before payment and show it back to you. Story links and private accounts are stopped at this step.
5. **Pay and follow delivery.** Comments appear one by one, and your order page shows where the order stands. If we can’t post everything you paid for, the shortfall is credited to your Socipro wallet under the [refund policy](https://socipro.com/refund).

Premium uses accounts from a higher-grade supply. Neither tier has a refill on comments. For buyers in the United States, the same order flow is on the [US page for Instagram comments](https://socipro.com/us/buy-instagram-comments), and UK buyers can use the [UK page](https://socipro.com/uk/buy-instagram-comments). Delivery is not location-targeted on either.

## Will bought comments make people reply?

Not by themselves. A comment from a stranger starts a thread, but it is you who keeps it going. Reply to the first few within the hour, answer the questions you wrote, and pin the one you want people to see first. When real viewers see an account owner answering, they are more likely to add their own line.

If nobody joins, that is information. It tells you about the post, the timing or the offer, and it is cheaper to learn on one post than on ten. Adjust the next post, not the number of comments.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do Instagram comments help your post reach more people?

Only a little, and only when real people respond to them. Instagram predicts whether each viewer will comment, using that viewer's own history. A bought comment is not part of that history. What it can do is break the silence so the first visitor is not the first to speak, which makes replies easier.

### Is it legal to buy Instagram comments?

Buying them is not a crime for most people, but it breaks Meta's rules and can raise consumer-law problems. The FTC's rule targets fake reviews and fake indicators used to mislead others, and sellers face the main exposure. Never use bought comments as reviews or proof of results. This is not legal advice.

### Can Instagram detect bought comments?

Sometimes. Instagram's systems and other users spot repeated lines, links and comment bursts on posts with little other activity. We can pace delivery and reject duplicates, but we cannot rule out removals. A short, varied list on a post that already has some attention looks like a normal thread.

### Are custom comments better than generated ones?

Yes for control and relevance, no for price. Custom comments say exactly what you wrote, so they can answer the post. Generated ones are short, positive and cost less. Pick custom for launches, product posts and questions; pick generated when a few quick reactions are enough.

### How many comments should I buy for one Instagram post?

Fewer than you expect. A handful that matches the post's likes and views reads as a conversation, while dozens under a quiet post look bought. Leave room for real replies and add more on a later post if the first order looked right to you.

### Will bought comments get me banned from Instagram?

It is possible, though a ban for a few comments on one post is unlikely to be the first outcome. Meta's spam rules prohibit buying engagement, and enforcement can include removing the activity or limiting reach. Never share your password with a seller; that is a bigger risk than the comments themselves.

### Can I buy Instagram comments on a private account?

No. The post has to be on a public account, because comments can only be posted where other accounts can reach them. The order box checks the link before payment and stops private accounts and Story links. Switch to public, order, and stay public until delivery ends.

### Should I buy comments or likes first?

Likes first, for most posts. A post with comments but almost no likes looks lopsided to a visitor. Add a modest like count, then a few comments that fit the post, and keep both in step with what your real audience usually gets.
